Guidelines for the use of drugs in its management are widely available, but for children are often based on consensus opinion and extrapolation of data from studies in adolescents and adults. The aim of this review is to describe the clinical pharmacology of the drugs commonly used to manage chronic asthma in children and identify areas where further study might be useful to determine their best use.
