Clinicians are busy people. We're also jacks of many trades, willingly or of necessity, able to turn a hand to diverse tasks. Caught up in the inevitable frustrations of life in the National Health Service, it's worth pausing once in a while, and reflecting on what brought us into medicine. For many, possibly for all of us to greater or lesser extent, it was a fascination with science. That first glimpse down a microscope, or sight of a beating heart.
